Monday food stuff shopping and dinner

Yesterday Morning, after sending Crystal to Uni, we went to the wet market to get some fresh vegetables, we have totally run out of green in our fridge.

These are what we bought

This sawi and pak choi is RM2.00 per ikat

We bought some favourite kuih for our lunch & tea breaks and a loaf of bread for the next day morning breakfast as Pearl has got SPM's Accounting exam in the morning, we need a quick fix breakfast before rushing to school.

After the wet market, we went to the supermarket meant to get a can of evaporated milk for the whole grain desert that I boiled on Saturday.  100% of the time when we went into the supermarket we will come out with more stuff than what we intended to buy.

the evaporated milk and a bag of rice

some frozen food that come in handy for breakfast (the Mantou), lunch and dinner (the chicken meat rolls & Pork meat ball)

and a bag of 16 rolls of toilet tissues.  The prices of the toilet tissues have increased some much, this brand cost RM2.04 per roll, I find the quality of this tissue is satisfying.

To save us time from cooking lunch, we take out/tapau 2 Tuaran Mee for our girls from the shop we had breakfast.

For dinner, we had the chicken meat rolls that we bought from the supermarket in the morning.  I fried the rolls in the air fryer
and cut them up, served them in a bed of green vegetable

3 dishes, very simple dinner

Weekends Eats

Time just fly by during weekends.  We choose to stay home for breakfast when our girls do not have their Sunday school classes, our breakfast will become a brunch because we usually wake up late :D

last weekend, I cooked most of the meals at home which kept me all busy in the kitchen.  There seem are actually so many things to do around the house on weekends which I do not have the chance to do on working days,  Not long after our late breakfast, the clock telling me that it's time for lunch and dinner.
So far this macaroni mushroom is a big favourite for my girls.  The above serving with coffee is my brunch

I am not a good cook, thus here come our simple lunch
Crunchy french beans with minced pork is the only main dish

Don't worry, we had Polo Char Sau Pau and plain Char Sau pau for afternoon tea bought from the famous local kopitiam 333 at Lintan.  The Polo Char Sau Pau is RM3.00 per piece, the shop owner is a good sales lady she convinced me to buy 2 to try it out, combination of sweet and savory,

I still prefer the normal plain char sau pau.

Here come our dinner, when my turn to cook, I will serve more vegetable and keep reminding my girls to eat them.  "Eat more vegetable, blah blah blah...""
Just when we had finished our dinner, BIL and friend brought 3 big packets of mamak mee. Look delicious right?  Yes, I had mamak mee for supper, spicy but tasty with added calamansi juice.

Vegetarian Buffet

Have heard and passed by this shop every time we dine at McDonald in Komplek Karamunsing.  I chose to try it out after we have done the auction sales at Palace Hotel yesterday.  My better half has tried it before and he was not keen to have another round of meatless meal.  He patiently waited for me to enjoy my vegetarian buffet which cost RM9.90 per person.

There are signs and notices sticking on the food counter walls reminding the customers "do not waste food".  Even without this notices, I am a natural thrifty person whom do not like the idea of wasting anything . I took bits of everything just enough for my consumption.

I also had half a bowl of porridge and red bean soup each which I forgot to take photos of.  I had a cup of nice coffee to finish off with my vegetarian lunch.

Home grown Vegetable plants

My colleague gave me some eggplant seedlings many weeks ago, we transplanted them into a black plastic bag and left them at the backyard. A few days a ago, we noticed that the plants have grown a lot and been attacked by fungus or some kind of pesticide.

We took them all to the front yard, and transplanted them into bigger pots. We do not intend to use pesticides nor fertiliser, because we are trying to have organic home grown vegetable, if they ever bear egg plants, we could expect them to be small and skinny eggplants..:D

this is the one attacked by fungus

I also grow some vegetable plant like this one, but I have forgotten what it is. I bought the seeds from tamu, there is no mention of what seeds on the plastic, I forgot all about what seeds I have bought. They do look like Sawi to me..

Trying to grow vegetable

I bought this bitter gourd seeds together with some chili seeds many months ago. Since Clet is very much into Castor farming now, he always brings our girls to check on the progress of his plot of young Castor trees, we did some watering on the young Castor plants last Sunday too. Some way some how under such an influence, Crystal wanted to grow her own plant too. It is thrilled to see the seeds we sowed having new shoots after a few day.

We planted some chili seeds in the pot last week till now there isn't any new shoots coming out apart from wild grass, Crystal thought those are the new chili shoots. :) Will keep checking on them who knows there are shoots coming out soon!

I am trying my luck on these bitter gourd seeds which is expiring in 2011 same as the chili seeds. This time I planted them on the ground instead of in the pots.
While digging the soil, I dug out several of this root from the ground, at first I thought is onion, later than I realised they are the roots for the lily plants which Clet cleared them off together with the wild grass.
One of the bitter gourd seed ready to be planted. Hope it will grow to give us some bitter gourds (one of my favourite vegetable).

A surprise for me

Crystal came home from school with a bunch of Taiwanese Pak Choy in a plastic bag. The Daddy was surprise and started to question her. She told her Daddy that she bought it from school to surprise me. Not that she likes to eat vegetable but she knows I always buy vegetable and must have a dish of vegetable in every meals if possible.

I heard with disbelief when Clet told me about it after fetching Crystal from school this afternoon. I was very touched with her act and the thoughtfulness that she possesses at her tender age. She spent her little pocket money to buy me vegetable from an elderly lady who is selling vegetable in her school. She said she is the only student patronising while the rests were all parents.

We cooked the vegetable that she bought for dinner but she only ate a bit. It is just meant for me, she said.

To avoid her from buying vegetable from school again which is not practical for her. I keep reminding her that mummy has got plenty of vegetable in the fridge so please do not buy for me. She just smiled.

Amazing truth of Fruits and vegetable

I am a vegetable lover but not a vegan. Times and times again, I read about the health benefits of certain fruits and vegetable but never noticed some of the vegetable I usually eat actually resemble our body organs and have direct benefits to that organ too. Do you know that?

It was brought to my attention when I received an email enclosing a slide entitled "God's Pharmacy" from my colleague today. It is amazingly true, that,

1. Carrots, when it is cut into halve, the round middle part resembles the eye, thus eating carrot enhances blood flow to and functions of our eyes.

2. Tomato, has four chambers is very similar to the heart which has four chambers too. Tomatoes loaded with lycopine, a form of carotene, good for the heart and blood.

3. Grapes, a cluster of grapes hanging on the tree resemble the human heart thus also profound heart and blood vitalising food.

4. Walnut, look like the brain. Consuming walnuts help develop more than 3 dozens neuron, the transmitter for brain functions.

5. Kidney bean, look exactly like kidney, it actually heals and helps maintain the kidney functions.

6. Celery, its stems look like bones. it contains sodium which is what our bones need. Eat celery to replenish our bones strength and skeletal needs.

7. Avocados, eggplants, pears, provides the health and functions of the womb, cervix of female. It says that by taking one avocado a day helps balances the hormone, prevents cervical cancer. Do you know that it takes 9 months to grow an avocado?

8. Fig, the fruit is full of seeds, hang in 2 on the tree. It has the function of increase the mobility of male sperms and increase the sperms numbers.

9. Sweet potatoes, looks like pancreas, thus has the function of balancing the glycemic index of diabetes.

10. Olives, assist the health and function of ovaries.

11. Oranges, grape fruits like the mammary glands of female, assist the health of the breast and the movement of lymph in and out of the breast.

Preparation - Detoxification and Rejuvenation Programme (DRP)

I guess some of you might be wondering what the DRP I am talking about, I should have posted this before I even started with my DRP 6 days ago.  But all is not too late, right?

After the live blood test, the result got me worried about my overall health. I told myself that by hook or by crook I have to start the DRP programme as soon as I got the free package of the DRP set which was given free to me as staff on an annual basis by the company that I work.  Together with my two other colleagues, I started with the programme 6 days ago, mentally ready of course.  Besides having the DRP set in place, there are certain vegetable and fruits that I have to get ready before starting the programme.  Basically the whole programme put us on a very strict diet, only fruits, vegetable and supplements are allowed.
The content of the DRP set from NewLife International
The Hippocrates soup
These are some of the fruits and vegetable recommended in the programme.  The carrot and apple are for juices.  Celery, onions and potatoes together with tomatoes, leeks, garlic to be cooked into Hippocrates' soup as meals throughout the 7 days.  I got bored of the soup on the 3rd day that I replaced my meals with mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes and fruits instead.
I made 6 containers of yogurt as part of the meals to be taken together with flaxseed oil
I have been coping well with the strict diet with no much temptations to break the fast, it would be a challenge if I am a meat eater, glad that I am not.
The boiled and let cool to body temperature coffee enema mixture
I was a bit worried on carrying out the coffee enema at the beginning, luckily I managed it quite well from the 3rd day onwards where I found a comfortable place to do it, that is, the bedroom, even with Pearl coming around again and again to check on me, and asked "mummy, you do the "emema" again?".
There is still one more day to go to complete the programme.  I have been asked what I feel like having for my first meal right after this programme, my answer was, Laksa flavour Maggi Mee, hahaha...just kidding.  I would go for porridge so that my stomach will not be shocked after 7 days without solid food.

Transplanting vegetable seedlings

Finally Clet helped me to transplant the cucumber and tomatoes seedlings to the backyard last sunday. Clet prefers to plant the vegetable on the ground than in the pots to allow the plants to have more rooms to grow hopefully with better harvest.

Our backyard is in such a mess that I only go out there to pick up mangoes. With a little help from Crystal, Clet managed to clear up the place a bit and transplanted the cucumber and tomato seedlings along side the fence.

Seedlings for Cucumber and Tomatoes

I finally planted the cucumber, tomato and chrysanthemum seeds which I bought many weeks ago. The seedlings of the cucumber and tomato have started to emerge from the soil on the fourth day, all thanks to Crystal's effort to water them every morning and evening. With much anticipation, we ain't see any seedlings from the chrysanthemum seeds probably the seeds are no longer good for planting.

The tomato seedlings
No sign of seedlings for the Chrysanthemum seeds
I will have to buy a few larger pots and some black soil to transplant the seedlings to allow more room for them to grow. Hopefully I can get some home grown cucumbers and tomatoes soon.
