Vitamins - Calcium & Glucosamine

Age is really catching up on me..I could feel the change soon after I reached 40...First, it was my eye sight, follow by my joints, and recently, I feel increase pains on my arms and legs.  I have slowed down my consumption of coffee 2 weeks ago..and change my diet to oats for breakfast and lunch after the test on my bad cholesterol level is on the high side at 5.81.

For my joints pain, I have started with Calcium and Glucosamine last month, I know I should have consumed these vitamins many years ago, hope it is still not too late before I reach 50.

Apart from these, I am also taking Evening Primrose Oil, Vitamin C and Fish Oil on a more regular basis than last year.  I need regular exercise, that's what I am lacking, a lot of effort is needed to get myself to move.

What are the health supplements are you taking ?  Would be glad to learn from your testimonials.

Children's Vitamin C

Vitamin C is the most common vitamin that parents give to their child as daily health supplement.  I always made available Vitamin C for my girls and remind them to take their vitamin whenever I remember.  As you can see my girls do not take Vitamin C consistently on a daily basis because I always forget.  They help themselves with only the Spirulina.

My girl caught a flu and cough these few days.  Kids do have their preference on the taste of the Vitamin C they consume.  My girl complains that the taste is too sweet for the existing brand that I have bought and it's almost finished.  In order to replenish it and get her to consume more Vitamin C during her unwell period,  I bought the over the counter Kordel's brand Vitamin C-250 this time.  The packaging is very nice & cute.  I have tried one tablet,  the tablet size is a bit big but taste just nice, neither too sweet nor sourly.
 The packaging with a Mickey
There is a 1 Bonus Point cutout on the box, I do not know what's that for, will need to find out before I throw the box away.  Probably need to collect them and redeem something.

Additional Vitamins

Age is catching up and couple with prolong lack of sleep, stress at work and many other stuff that keeping me busy and stress out, I get fatigue very easily nowadays..I hardly take any nap during lunch hours but now I do..I feel myself half asleep when I am at work, my boss will sure give me a warning if she knows I do my work with my eyes half closed, "_".

Besides trying to watch the food I consume, I also added on more vitamins supplements with the hope that they will boost up my antibody.  I have not been consistent in taking my vitamins so far.  Some of them have gone expired without finishing them.  What a waste of money.

Last week, I decided to start taking Calcium Complex and Garlic & Parsley.  The recommended dosage is 4 capsules of Calcium Complex (the brown one, I try out with 2 a day) and 1 capsule of Garlic & Parsley.

Today, I bought a bottle of Kordel's Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) to be included into my daily supplements.

Are you taking any vitamins & minerals supplements?  Mind to share what are your daily supplements?

Garlic to treat common cough and flu

I felt the itchiness of my throat last night and it getting worst this morning. My nose is stuck. I know I am getting the sign of cough and flu. To avoid seeing the doctor and taking medications, I always opt to take plenty of vitamins and supplements first.

For cough and flu, I was told and experienced myself by taking lots of vitamin C and garlic supplement, with more than 10 capsules of garlic in a day, I also placed 2 capsules in my mouth while I sleep, just let the capsules melt by themselves in my mouth. This has helped me got rid of my cough and flu many months ago. Garlic is known to have anti bacterial, anti fungal properties and many other health benefits.

I am doing the same thing again by taking lots of garlic capsules but with no vitamin C this time. Let see whether garlic alone will do any good this time round. My last alternative would be to take the Bird's Nest Chong Chow Pi Pa Dan which I always keep some stock to treat my bad and nasty cough.

On Chinese Translation Task

It was a busy and brain draining working week for me despite having had a Monday public holiday. I was given a task to translate two articles from English to simplified Chinese on Thursday and my boss needed them on Saturday morning. Gosh..the articles were about the benefits and the types of Coenzyme Q10(CoQ10) available in the market place today. I spent the whole two days translating and doing the corrections after my boss had proofed read them. Great that I managed to do it with the help of online translation website and NJStar Chinese WP, they have indeed make translation works so much easier. The only set back I faced was that I am not so familiar with the Han Yi Ping Ying thingy as I had never learnt that during my school time, furthermore I have also forgotten how to write many of the Chinese wordings since I seldom use them nowadays.
I was unable to finish all the corrections that I needed to do during the office hours that I have to continue at home, after my dinner, spending another 2 hours or so trying to search for the right words using Han Yi Ping Ying at NJStar, finally I got everything done and emailed to my boss at 10.40pm. Tasks accomplished but exhausting; I got the opportunity to refresh my mind on the benefits of Co Q10 by doing this tasks, I took Co Q10 supplements months ago but stopped taking it after my supplies have exhausted, and knowing what the benefits that this supplement can do to our bodies, I should make an effort to resume having it as part of my supplements.

No No to Vitamin

After taking a week of the doctor's prescriptions from our last visit to the clinic, Pearl did not seem to get any better; she still having sinus and heavy phlegmy cough.  Estellar dropped by our home the day after she arrived from Australia, after having a look at the prescriptions that Pearl has been taking, she recommended Polaramine syrup for Pearl for a change.  There saw some improvement after the 3rd dosage but she still having wet nose and cough, hope she will get better soon.  Thanks a lot, Estellar.

I headed to the pharmacy to buy a bottle of Polaramine the other day and I remember SIL, Catherine was giving her little daughter, Anneliese, the Vidaylin Minibear gummies with garden vegetables vitamin and she likes it very much, keep coming back for more.   The Minibear gummies is packed with 5 garden vegetables and Vitamin C that provides a good source of important antioxidant nutrients such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, beta carotene, calcium, iron & zinc for children who do not eat enough vegetables. I thought it would be a good supplement for my girls coz they refuse to take vegetables. The taste of the minibears gummies are yummy just like any other gummy candies that they love to eat but I was totally wrong, they rejected the minibears altogether, making me speechless.

I was thinking whether I should return the remaining to the shop and get my money back. Referring to the tag that comes together with the product, it says if we are not pleased with the "yummy" taste of the product after consuming 10% of content, we could return them and get my RM18.00 back. Should I go through the trouble in getting the reimbursment or consume all by myself?  Mostly likely I will do the later like what I have done for other stuff that I bought for them previously; it would be easier for me in a way and I also get to consume some vitamins at the same time.  *sigh* the girls are hard to predict, probably I should have told them that the minibear gummies are candies instead of vitamins.

BACK ON USANIMALS AGAIN

It has been a while that we stopped giving or rather the girls refused to take the vitamins that we find is best for them, simply because the taste of the natural wild berry flavoured of the Usana's Usanimals multivitamin tablets are not as good and alluring as other brands of vitamins. They are made by using natural sweetener and flavouring, and lack of artificial colouring. The tablets are in different animal shapes and grey in colour. We even showed them this Usana's Mega girl video clip just to convince them but the effect only lasted for a while.

Lately, Crystal suffered from nose bleed and severe allergy, so we decided to put her back on the Usanimals multivitamins again a couple of days ago so that she is able to get the nutrients that is lacking from the food that she consumes. Both of them are very picky eaters. Pearl has been eating much lesser solid food than before instead ask for milk more frequently which is good too.
Surprisingly, Crystal is willing to take up to a daily dosage of two tablets as recommended for the last two days; while seeing her sister taking it Pearl also started to ask for her share. Unlike before we have to crush the tablets and put them in their milk. They even rejected the milk after tasting them, kids are smart they know what have been added to their milk right!? Actually, The Usanimals multivitamins are not for sale in Malaysia yet but a friend of ours gave us some by sending them all the way from New Zealand and we also managed to bought some after that by the help of our friend while she travelled to Singapore months ago. Hope the girls are doing good with the vitamins and become mega girls..:)
