Fruits ABC (Ais Batu Campur or Mixed Ice) Dessert

Tanjung Aru beach is popular for its beautiful sunset, it is a famous spot for the tourists & locals but we hardly go there.  I wish this area can be upgraded for the comfort of the visitors.

We had this fruits ABC dessert at Tanjung Aru Beach 1, the stall is located inside the eateries.  This stall is operated by my brother's classmate.  We ordered the small cup (RM5.00) for 2 of us to share.
ABC (Mixed Ice with syrup) at the bottom and fresh fruits filled to the brim, a good cup of dessert.
I accidentally dropped the only piece of the kiwi, what a waste.
I told my brother that it would be nicer if the fruits are served cold and the shaved ice is in fine texture and not hard like small pieces of rocks, so that he could convey a customer's comment to his classmate.  Anyhow, her business is very good.
 Many different type of fruits on display.  These are real fresh fruits, I was told that the stall operator take the fruits down when she closes her stall and rearrange the fruits before she starts her business each day..she has acquired the skills in arranging fruits like this over the years.

Fruits season

Come the month of August, we can see many more tropical fruits pouring into the market place.  We get the chance to eat more fruits now then before, because my better half started to have the mindset of having fruit in our daily diet.  We prefer local fruits as they are usually cheaper and fresher.

This fruit display is taken by my brother at Tanjung Aru. How I wish I could have a piece of land to plant variety of fruits trees.

Season of Exotic & Tropical Fruits

We are blessed with all kinds of tropical & exotic fruits at this fruiting seasons.  From the start of August, we can see more varieties of tropical and exotic fruits being sold at the stalls.  Some over priced especially at tourists spots.

Shopping of fruits has been made convenient by a fruit trader whom has a farm from Keningau.  With the permission from the school authority and his good gesture of donating some earnings to the school, he is allowed to sell his produce outside the school compound.  The trader will come again with more fruits next week.  Some parents and teachers have placed their orders in advance.

Avocados & pumpkins

my better half bought this lot of fruits from him last week
He bought 2 ordinary durians from him too..  It is  not the breed of D24 nor Musang King but it's good enough to taste the king of fruit this season.  The chopping knife is a tool needed to open a durian.

Do you like Bambangan pickles?

I love Bambangan pickles, but not for Clet and my 2 daughters. They would close their nose as soon as I open the container of bambangan pickles. This was what happened this afternoon when I mixed some of it with my plain noodles. One closed the nose and the other shouted, "mummy, please close the container rigth now, I hate the smell of it". "alright, alright!" I said.

Bambangan belongs the wild mango family, it is a famous traditional appetizer to the Kadazan and Dusun tribes but it has gained popularity among other communities as well. The fruit can be eaten when it's ripen but I prefer it to be made into pickles. Bambangan pickles last for several if it well stored. I normally refrigerate it.

Amazing truth of Fruits and vegetable

I am a vegetable lover but not a vegan. Times and times again, I read about the health benefits of certain fruits and vegetable but never noticed some of the vegetable I usually eat actually resemble our body organs and have direct benefits to that organ too. Do you know that?

It was brought to my attention when I received an email enclosing a slide entitled "God's Pharmacy" from my colleague today. It is amazingly true, that,

1. Carrots, when it is cut into halve, the round middle part resembles the eye, thus eating carrot enhances blood flow to and functions of our eyes.

2. Tomato, has four chambers is very similar to the heart which has four chambers too. Tomatoes loaded with lycopine, a form of carotene, good for the heart and blood.

3. Grapes, a cluster of grapes hanging on the tree resemble the human heart thus also profound heart and blood vitalising food.

4. Walnut, look like the brain. Consuming walnuts help develop more than 3 dozens neuron, the transmitter for brain functions.

5. Kidney bean, look exactly like kidney, it actually heals and helps maintain the kidney functions.

6. Celery, its stems look like bones. it contains sodium which is what our bones need. Eat celery to replenish our bones strength and skeletal needs.

7. Avocados, eggplants, pears, provides the health and functions of the womb, cervix of female. It says that by taking one avocado a day helps balances the hormone, prevents cervical cancer. Do you know that it takes 9 months to grow an avocado?

8. Fig, the fruit is full of seeds, hang in 2 on the tree. It has the function of increase the mobility of male sperms and increase the sperms numbers.

9. Sweet potatoes, looks like pancreas, thus has the function of balancing the glycemic index of diabetes.

Floral to brighten up the days

It's nice to have a big garden like what my BIL is having somewhere outskirt. Besides having fresher air, there are a lot of space for flowers and fruit trees.

I took the opportunity to snap some photos of the flowers planted by SIL while we were there three weeks ago. Flowers do brighten up our days even without knowing their names.

More Mangoes after a windy day

We could stock up more mangoes in our fridge each time after a windy rainy day.  The wind tends to bring down more mangoes to the ground, hence, 20 over mangoes for us in a single day.  I make some into juice as requested by Clet using a blender instead of the juicer, giving us a very thick yogurt mangoes juice, with some yogurt.  Crytal & Pearl do not like it at all.

I made mine a little special by adding more yogurt, a sprinkle of bee pollen granule and some flax seed oil for addition nutrition.

Preparation - Detoxification and Rejuvenation Programme (DRP)

I guess some of you might be wondering what the DRP I am talking about, I should have posted this before I even started with my DRP 6 days ago.  But all is not too late, right?

After the live blood test, the result got me worried about my overall health. I told myself that by hook or by crook I have to start the DRP programme as soon as I got the free package of the DRP set which was given free to me as staff on an annual basis by the company that I work.  Together with my two other colleagues, I started with the programme 6 days ago, mentally ready of course.  Besides having the DRP set in place, there are certain vegetable and fruits that I have to get ready before starting the programme.  Basically the whole programme put us on a very strict diet, only fruits, vegetable and supplements are allowed.
The content of the DRP set from NewLife International
The Hippocrates soup
These are some of the fruits and vegetable recommended in the programme.  The carrot and apple are for juices.  Celery, onions and potatoes together with tomatoes, leeks, garlic to be cooked into Hippocrates' soup as meals throughout the 7 days.  I got bored of the soup on the 3rd day that I replaced my meals with mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes and fruits instead.
I made 6 containers of yogurt as part of the meals to be taken together with flaxseed oil
I have been coping well with the strict diet with no much temptations to break the fast, it would be a challenge if I am a meat eater, glad that I am not.
The boiled and let cool to body temperature coffee enema mixture
I was a bit worried on carrying out the coffee enema at the beginning, luckily I managed it quite well from the 3rd day onwards where I found a comfortable place to do it, that is, the bedroom, even with Pearl coming around again and again to check on me, and asked "mummy, you do the "emema" again?".
There is still one more day to go to complete the programme.  I have been asked what I feel like having for my first meal right after this programme, my answer was, Laksa flavour Maggi Mee, hahaha...just kidding.  I would go for porridge so that my stomach will not be shocked after 7 days without solid food.

Versatile Juicer & Food Processor

I always wanted to own a unit of Alpha DA-900 juicer & food processor for my kitchen. I finally bought it this month, thanks to the company that I work for offers easy payment scheme for staff.

It comes with a VCD which I showed it the night I got the juicer. After watching the VCD, my daughters begging me to buy it, I did not tell them that it is already in the kitchen. They were thrilled when they saw the machine can actually make noodles, slicing potatos, and make juices, to them it would be a good toy to play.

This Korean made juicer is more than an ordinary juicer that I used to have. It is more than 9 machine in 1!

1. Fruit & Vegetable Juice Extractor;
2. Wheatgrass/Leafy Green Juice Extractor;
3. Soya Bean, Almond & other Nut Milk Extractor;
4. Mincer;
5. Grinder;
6. Pasta Maker;
7. Food Mill;
8. Grain Mill; and
9. Ice shaver/Vetable Slicer.

It is also the first juice extractor equipped with a "Mill-type Bio Auger" gear, which functions exactly like a stonemill. It preserves the oringinal flavour, nutrients and living enzymes found in fruits and vegetables. It is just what we need for my DRP "Detox & Rejuvenation Programme" that I will be taking tomorrow for 7 days.

There is no sharp blade in this juicer so I let my daughters took charge of the juicing which they enjoyed very much. They are also eager to try the juices that they extracted, easier to get them to drink juices now.

Mango season is here..

The mango season is here again. We have got such a privilege to have a mango tree at my house backyard. I can hear the ripe mangoes start falling down on the ground anytime of the day. It is exciting to check how many mango I can picked up in the morning. I grew up with two mango trees at the backyard of my parents' house, I could not explain why I still get excited in finding magoes on the ground!!! I remember my brother used to bring one bag after another of mangoes to us before the house was sold.

This mango tree does not bear big mango fruits but it sure can supply us mangoes without having us to buy from the market during this fruiting season. My mum can not resist to have a taste of the mango that she asked the maid to get some mango off the tree to make marinated mango with belacan. Very appetising....will show a picture of marinated mango with belacan soon. I have given my mum some mangoes again this morning for her to marinate.

Borneo fruit - Tarap

The Tarap, is a type of fruit belongs to Moraceae plant family and the cousin of Jackfruit. It can easily be found here, in the Borneo Island during its fruiting season. We have been enjoying this unique fruit since we were kids . The fruit looks a bit weird to many but the taste of the fresh is so yummy; it is generally very sweet and soft creamy in texture. Every single piece of its fresh comes with a seed, I remember my parents used to boil the seeds and we eat them too.

It is not easy to get my girls to eat fruits, they could be either fussy or not adventurous on trying new food. Crystal rejected the Tarap altogether by looking at the fruit when we first introduced it to her last season, after much persuasions, she tried a piece of the fresh and she loves it eversince.

We had one last night which Cletus bought on the way back from Keningau. Crystal and I finished most of it, Pearl tried one or two pieces too. It's generally sold at RM2.00 - RM5.00 a fruit depending on the sizes.

It gone. But I did not boil the seeds like what my parents did.
