Heat Resistant Pot

During the extended holiday weekend, I managed to do some minor rearrangements and did some cleaning and tidying up my humble kitchen.   The heat resistant pot has been sitting on the very top shelve for a long while which I have no time to check on it.  It was given by a friend of ours many months ago.

Still new in the box.

It is a very small and cute pot that I do not know what to do with it.  Too small to boil soup for the 4 of us. At the very moment, I can only think of cooking 2 packets of Maggi mee just enough for myself as breakfast.

Since it is a heat resistant pot, it can be transferred straight from stove to table.  However, because of the heat retention, my mee became soaking very fast.

Nevertheless, it is a nice piece of cookware, the colour of orange itself adds colour to my dull kitchen.

What to cook for dad's birthday

We are celebrating my dad's birthday tomorrow.  It's a pot luck dinner, means each of us have to bring along one or more dishes depending on individual capacity.  I will buy him a birthday cake of my choice because too many opinions will only make things difficult.   But I still need to bring a dish or two for dinner!  What to cook?  It's time to check on some of my cook books for some ideas..

My home cooking

Everyone in the house seem to be full this evening after they had spaghetti for lunch, pancake and bubur cha cha for tea at SIL's place where they spent the 1st day UPSR exam school break.

Though they are not ready to have dinner, I still need to cook for myself, they can have the left over if they get hungry later in the night...^_-.  I am a skinny bone but a big eater...:) I have to gain more weight now after my recent detox.

With my cooking skills and the time I have after work, this is the best I can cook for dinner tonight.

Time for dinner now!

SLIGHTLY WESTERN

How about slightly western tonite? We had chicken fillet to go with noodles and sausages, and small helpings of omelette, carrot and pumpkin. The Chicken fillet tasted just nice as it has been marinated for few hours before it was pan fried with bread crumbs. Pearl had noodles with sausages and she was a bit adventurous to taste some chicken and she love it. Crystal restricted herself with the noodles with sausages only, it was just as difficult to get her to taste new food. Both of them said no no to veggies, it's a real headache for me...sigh..

IT'S DINNER TIME

The girls got up from their afternoon nap while I was preparing dinner this evening, both of them were grumpy. Pearl wouldn't want to let me go and Crystal refused to get out from the room, Clet has no choice but to take over the cooking for tonite. Dinner was served rather fast since it's already half way prepared. Let's check them out:
Braised Chicken with Onions [I planned to grill the chicken actually but Clet decided to change to something easier & faster :(..]
Pan fried Lap Cheong (Chinese sausage)
Se Gua and Onion
