Angry Bite

I discourage my kids eating keropok/packet chips, I do not stop them totally from snacking on  chips but merely control their intake from those highly flavoured with seasoning and colouring chips which to my opinion these snack food are very unhealthy.   

Occasionally I would indulge myself with a packet or two of chips like this one, the Angry Bite, this is my favourite, I am not a fan of Angry Birds but simply like to bite their crunchy beaks.  I suggested to my colleagues that whenever they are angry just bite these beaks..no arguments when your mouths are busy snacking..:D   

There are a few flavours of Angry Bite, I like them all.  Have you tried this snack before ? I am sure you will like it once you have tasted it.

Weekend tea treats

For a person whom did not succeed in making steam bao no matter how many times I tried, I will have to buy baos  from the shop and keep frozen ones in the fridge as snacks especially on weekends.

I like those little 小龙包。I just need to steam them over high heat for 5 minutes and it is done..

For tea break last Sunday, we had these little paos and homemade "wajid" from SIL we packed home from the previous Easter Sunday.

Goodies from Neighbour

It is indeed a blessing every time we receive goodies.

My neighbour just came back from her trip to Hong Kong a couple of days ago (& zoom she went off to KL with her children again the next day).  Before she went off to her next trip, she gave us some goodies she brought for us from Hong Kong.  We are so grateful for her thoughtfulness.

   

   I am not fond in almond stuff because I do not like the strong almond taste BUT these Almond cookies are exceptional.  Compact and very nutty, the almond blends well with the peanuts in these cookies.  Perfect for tea time snack.

This is something new for our taste buds..have never seen this product before.  The Asolo Dolce Fogliette.  This must be an Italian products because there is an Italian Flag on the left corner on the packet.

the sweetness is just fine..this crispy pastry is a good snack too...now where is my hot coffee...???? 

Secret Recipe's Shepherd Pie

This Shepherd Pie may look different from the traditional one on its appearance.  We truly enjoyed it at Secret Recipe.  Will definitely come for more.  My girls love it at an instant when they tasted the mashed potatoes.

Stress in the office

Stress...when I have to handle my own jobs and other's job tasks at the same time.

My colleague has gone on leave for a week..asking me for a favour to help in her job tasks during her absence.  For the last time I agreed to help her as I will be transferred to the other company effective this month, by right I do not have to handle her job task..but I agreed so to allow her to have a good holiday.

The stress set in when I have to contact one of the government bodies which the answering machine will do the talking, asking me to press buttons, telling me again and again that their operators are busy and still busy, please hold and finally the machine operator informs that the holding period has ended, please call back again.   I have redialed many times trying to contact the officer until I gave up.  Waste of my time and increase my stress level tremendously...I guess this is one of the Malaysia Boleh situations..

 Enough..I don't want to think more...it's lunch time.  Simple snacks in the office to cool my stress down a little and TGIF.

Today's Brunch

On a lazy Public Holiday like today, I got up really late, at 10am.    I took the opportunity to get some online works done the night before knowing that I could get up a little late in the morning.  

I knew that my girls are hungry at that hour in the morning, I quickly prepared this set of brunch as soon as I got up.  Simple with just bull's eye egg, baked beans, sausages and white bread cut into snowman and star shapes.  They had the bread with sliced cheese.  I received thumbs up for this brunch, probably they were really hungry :DD  Crystal even requested me to prepare Star Shapes cheese sandwiches for her school's tea break bento tomorrow.

Goldfish color biscuits review

My girls grabbed a packet of this Goldfish colors cheddar cheese biscuit from the biscuit section in the supermarket on Easter Sunday. They want this as their biscuit treats, at a glance on the price I was about to say NO. It is pretty expensive to me but It's Easter, we should be celebrating, and I like the packaging, it should taste good too, so I said YES, we can have it.

The packaging is very colourful and nice, any kids will be attracted to it just by looking at the packaging, the taste is secondary. I attracted to it too.

We are very eager to open up the pack to have a taste of this cheddar cheesy biscuit. The biscuits look like this. Colourful fish shape just like what have mentioned on the packaging. After a few bites, 3 of us stop eating. The taste is not to our preference, no taste of cheese and the biscuit is neither sweet nor savoury.

What am I going to do with this packet of biscuits, definitely we wouldn't be able to finish it up and don't want to throw away just like that. I am sure someone would love it. I suggest my girls to bring to their school and share with their friends. Crystal welcome the idea but Pearl said no thanks.

Crystal brought a small container of the biscuit to school. It seems that they did not like the biscuits too because she brought back the remaining. Ended up we still have got 80% of the biscuits. Me, being the "rubbish bin" of the house will have to finish it over time because I do not like the idea of wasting food. Dipping the GoldFish Colorful biscuits in the coffee would be a good idea I suppose!! Just like eating cereals in a bowl of milk. Hope my idea works!

The moral of the story is don't be deceived by the packaging of the product.

Sarawak local produce

It has been a long drive from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to Kuching, Sarawak. After the first trip about a month ago, Clet told me that he would not want to travel to Kuching by road again. However, due to work commitment, Clet and his nephew Mitchell drove to Kuching last week, it took them 9 days for a return trip this time. Haha...the journey to Kuching by road does not take that long, don't be misled by the numbers. They took a few overnight stops along the way to and back from Kuching. They have to go through Brunei, Miri, Bintulu and other towns before reaching their destination. The good thing about driving instead of flying is that they are able to visit their business counter parts along the way; Mobility is the main reason why they decided to drive despite of the long journey.

Clet bought back many types of Sarawak local produce, all are dried food, very hard and crunchy snacks. There are two types that I have not seen and tried before, that's the vegetarian goose meat and bird's nest with rock sugar sweets. The goose meat is very hard and dry while the bird's nest sweet is overly sweet.
