My Next Car Purchase

We are always having problems with the power windows of my 10 years old Proton. We have changed all 4 sets of the power window motors some three months ago at the Proton Service Centre, and this morning there show some signs of problem again, wind down and it will not go up, it’s STUCK!!

I had an experience of winding down the driver’s side window to collect a parking ticket at the entrance to my office, the window was stuck, I had to find a safer parking space, spent the next 15 minutes to get this power window up back, and I wouldn’t dare to press the button to wind down that window again. I was late to work as a result. If it was a raining day, I would had become soaking wet till I got to the office. I was told by the car repair workshop that it is the common problem for this make of cars.

After this morning incidence, hubby and I were talking about the age of my car, unavoidably there are areas need to repair and maintain for it to be in good running condition.

I am always thinking of changing or getting another car for the reason that my car is getting old. I have been observing those new cars on the road, local brand cars would be more affordable but again I have been driving local brand cars all this while, upgrading from one after the other, why not consider other made cars, right!? There are a few Toyota Cars that catch my eyes. I particularly like the Toyota Harrier, a metallic gold in colour would be nice, probably I could just dream about it right now, who knows one day I will be able to buy one..a new model one of course!! Alternatively, I am setting my eyes on a Honda CRV, a smaller model of 4-wheel drive that suites me better.

I am working hard on my business now and hope it will allow me to buy the car of my choice..Soon!!

A comment on mummy's car

After fetching Pearl from school this afternoon, as usual she would ask for her bottle of "nenen" (milk) first thing she enters into the car. Just coming out from the junction, we had these conversations:

Pearl shouted, " mummy..mummy..look at this nice car!!"

Me : "Where..??", I asked her after coming out from the busy junction.

Pearl : "Aiya..passed already lo..you didn't see.."

Curiously I asked her : "Why? Mummy's car not nice meh??"

Pearl answered without much hesistant : "Ehmm..Nice...But have to make Shiny!!" and she continued to enjoy her nenen again.

Yup! My little girl sure has noticed the condition of my 10 year old car, faded paint, scratches here and there, with dented front. If not she wouldn't have made such a comment. She has indeed made me smile with her honest comment and I am very glad that I have a fully paid car (an asset) though it is no longer shiny, Pearl would be pleased if I were to repaint my car to make it shiny again :D

OFF BUDGET

Our expenditure will be running high this month due to unexpected car maintenance cost which was really not budgeted for. Our year’s old car air-con gave us a very irritating sound on Thursday morning and we were very worried about it. From that funny sound we knew very well that it was asking for money. We were hesitant to send the car in for repair, however, we couldn’t afford to have our car break down as this is our only car that we have for our business and family used. On that very afternoon, we sent our car in for checking and it turned out that repair was inevitable; the air-con was in the midst of broken down. It cost us RM537.00 to change the bearing, housing and coil for the air-con, that also include a set of auto lock motor for the driver side which was not functioning for quite some time, for safety reason we have no choice but to change the motor. The auto lock motor would normally about RM20.00 for other made of cars but it is particularly expensive for Waja which cost up to RM200.00 per motor; worst still no warranty available. That’s not about all; our car was heated up in the city the following day due to faulty auto fan motor, that’s again cost us another RM160.00 to change the parts. Altogether we spent RM700.00 on car maintenance in 2 days. We are really off budget for this month now and have to think of ways to cut other corners which is tough..sigh..
