Papers Recycling

It is very effective to start instilling the awareness of protecting our earth from schools. The campaign of having a recycling day initiated by Crystal's school and the cooperation of the parents have made the campaign a success.

The once a week recycling day is fixed on Friday at the school. We have been contributing recycling papers to the school for most of the Fridays for the past one and a half years.

Though she doesn't really understand the full definitions of global warming and waste recycling in their technical contexts (which I don't expect her to), I have heard her using those words in her conversations. She always reminds us to bring recycling papers to her school every week, she gets very disappointed if she misses a week without contributing.

To support this meaningful activity for her school, I always collect used printed papers and used envelopes from the office. We hardly buy newspapers thus there isn't any newspapers from our household for recycling.

I brought home a big plastic bag of used envelopes last week for recycling. Crystal helped to sort out those with stamps and we cut them out for our collections.

A little contributions today will make a big difference in the future, a good environment for our next generations to live, if not better.:D

House prices is getting higher

The housing prices have gone incredibly high this year. Even a bad condition single storey terraced house with a land area of less than 2000 sq.ft is asking for at least RM300K and more. A double storey terraced house is now priced at RM400K and above. With this sort housing prices, we realised that we were lucky to get our house last year just before the price hike.

I can imagine our next generations will have to buy a house starting with million Ringgit if the prices maintain in this soaring pace. Many will have to opt to live in apartments and medium cost condominiums for cheaper and more affordable housing.

In time to come, the lucky loads will be the ones who inherit housing properties from their parents.

Local Female Magazines

I love reading magazines. One of my favourite is Her World Magazine. I bought the November 2009 issue featuring Datuk Yasmin Yussuf on the front cover. It comes with free sample of Shiseido Zen Eau de Parfum 1ml and a packet of May White Radiance Shower Cream. The Shiseido perfum is pretty nice, I have got 2 pieces of the same, one of it came free from a copy of the Female magazine that I bought at the same time.

The copy of the 480 pages thick Female magazine was a big disappointment, most of the pages are advertisements nothing much of interesting write up. It is very much different from what it used to be.

Pet Care for Pet Lovers

I visited my friend, Jessica, for afternoon tea at her home last weekend. I was amazed to see the number of dogs, cats and birds she is having at her home now. I still remembered her 2 dogs were locked in the cage and treated with flea problem last year, and now they have total free from fleas with very healthy looking hair. She has got 5 dogs, 2 puppies, 3 cats and a dozen of birds under her care now, they all look very healthy and clean.

I was very curious on how she manage to take care of so many pets with all of them look so health, happy and clean. She proudly shared her secret with me saying that she came across a website which tells her all about the know-how on dog care and cat care. It has since provided her with the knowledge she has been looking for on how to care for her pets. The result is remarkable.

At the same time she learnt about the essential tactics on bird care. That’s how she discovered her passion for birds too. She started with a pair of love birds and she was very excited to see that the numbers has multiplied in just a few months. A comprehensive pet care guide is all you need to keep the pets happy and the owner happy too, she said. She is so very proud of her pets indeed and planning to bring them for this coming dogs and cats competition.

1 Borneo on Sunday

After church, BIL, Edward, suggested that we bring the kids to 1 Borneo which he had been for 3 times so far. I was reluctant to go there at first because of the distance, and the sorrounding dust as part of the area still under construction, since clet wanting to go there and have a look all this while, so I followed suit. We walked around the mall, met some friends who were also spending time at the newest mall in the city. To my observation, I would say the mall is very similar to PJ Mid Valley; there are some more photos of the 1 Borneo Hypermall taken by Wong whom went there a couple of weeks ago. The kids had a very fun time at the amusement centre, jumping about in the huge bouncing balloons which they have seen so much in the TV, now they have got the chance to experience it themselves. The eateries there were fully occupied during lunch time; at last we settled at Kenny Rogers Roasters to have our lunch; Crystal found her new favourite, that is the macaroni cheese, BIL ordered two more bowls of that because Edson also love it very much. I ate the last bit after the two of them had enough of it. At least we have been to 1 Borneo which everyone been talking about. 1 Borneo is quite a distance from where we live, considering the fuel hike recently, we would rather shop at the shopping mall nearer to us.

It always a problem managing the hair for this doll, it becomes like a bush after combing it, looks like bunch of Bad Hair to me though. Don't comb it? Then why package it with a comb together with the doll? Anyone has any idea how to manage it?

SCARED TO FAIL vs DARE TO FAIL

Have you ever been in the situation where you are thinking of trying something out but never put it into action getting it done? Give all sorts of excuses for procrastination?? Or even abandoning the whole idea after some times?? The excuses given to ourselves or others for not proceeding with the ideas in mind are non exhaustive. The most common ones are: no time, it was raining that day, I am not good at that, nanti lah (wait for the right time), etc, etc….Too bad isn’t it? In actual fact, sometimes the main culprit behind it simply SCARED TO FAIL??

The Scared To Fail devil came to me when I was thinking of baking a chiffon cake recently, which is too petty to mention. Due to past experiences, I delay my baking day after day until Clet finally giving a little comment on when he can have a piece of the chiffon cake that I suppose to be making, and wonder what happen to the cake mix that he was asked to buy weeks ago. My answer to him was simply “I scared to fail AGAIN ba!!”. His reply was “What can be worst, if it didn’t turn out to be what you expected we still can eat bah!!” Be honest with you, I had attended a few baking classes, followed instructions from cakes baking books, obtain advises from the gurus, however, I still fail in baking. There are times I got so disappointed that I packed all my baking stuff and store them all in the store room.

Comes to think of it, Clet’s reply was simply a “DARE TO FAIL” attitude. I vividly remember Clet got a copy of this book entitled “DARE TO FAIL” by Billi Lim years back. I believe this book must have inspired a lot of readers that include Clet too… It was mentioned by Billi that “Failing is part of success” therefore one should not allow fear of failing as a stumbling block to achieve successes, especially to a small task like mine. :))

”Here are a few quotes from Billi, “Failing in the past does not mean that you are going to fail in the future.” "Not having succeeded can be forgiven. Not having tried at all is unforgiveable." It a great book to read and be inspired.

SIMPLY DELICIOUS

Don't we just love eating nice food? Forget about the calories, cholesterol, fats, that kind of stuff once in a while?! :> Restaurant Sri Rezeki at Lintas that we went to is known to serve nice Malay Cruisine by many. I finally got the chance to taste its Soto Ayam and Rojak myself this week. The Soto ayam is simply superb. Crystal and Pearl love it too. The Rojak is nice too but is a bit too sweet for my taste buds.

ALBERTO VO5 SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

There are so many hair care products in the market nowadays that sometimes you just do not know which ones to choose from. There is one friend of mine whose friend is a shampoo manufacturer in Peninsular once told me that all shampoos and conditioners ingredients are more or less the same, the only difference are in their individual packagings, I really do not know how true his statement is, what do you think?? And it's funny enough that this friend of his is baldheaded, scary yeah!! I should have asked which shampoo and conditioner his company is producing just in case....

I went to shop for groceries at Merdeka Supermarket the other day, there I got a shampoo and conditioner each as they had run dry at home. I feel a bit adventurous to try something different this time since there are so many brands to choose from. After comparing their pricing and the scent of the products (let alone the ingredients I do not know a thing of it), I decided to try the Alberto VO5® products this time . Here there are:

Another MLM Opportunity

Merely a few days ago I reminded Clet that from now on whatever it is we are not going into any Multi Level Marketing (MLM) businesses again for reasons that we know best. With the exceptional that if the products are really good and pricing are reasonable then it would be fine to join as product user only rather that business builder. There was no answer from him and I construed as No answer means Agreed.

And barely 72 hours from my reminder to Clet, I was introduced to yet another MLM company called ZHULIAN by my valued customer at her office today. Her sponsor did a health check on me as soon as I arrived there by using a weighing machine similar to the one used by HerbaLife besides this one has got a little digital reader that I have to hold up straight while the machine is “downloading” information from my body. Glad to know that my biological age (ie. an organism's physical state as it ages) is 5 years younger than my actual age.

I was told that ZHULIAN is a Malaysian owned direct selling company whose products include fashion jewellery, food & beverages, home care, nutritional health, personal care, beauty care, home tech and accessories. Most of the products are manufactured in house. The rewards to the achievers are similarly good if not better; however, what I am looking for now is a truly working from home business that I enjoy doing which eventually allows me to have more time for my family without having to worry about money. I never enjoy doing MLM business (it gave me so much stress mentally, physically and financially) and so for that matter this is not a business for me I must say.

And that’s the reason why I start blogging :Q

CHILDREN PLAYGROUND AT COMPLEXES

Children playgrounds can be found in most of the shopping complexes around Kota Kinabalu City these days. I would say there are pros and cons of having the facility in the complexes. I personally find that it would bring much inconvenience to me and hubby. What do you think??

Kids would not be able to resist when comes to playground where they can slide, climb and swing.. Some of the playgrounds having too many kids, especially the one near the food court outside Giant Supermarket, Kolombong. It could be hazardous to younger toddlers, as the possibilities of them being knocked by other older kids are high. Most parents would have to hang around there to accompany their kids, by doing so what they initially plan to do are therefore delayed. Playtime for kids never end. Sometimes we have no choice but to drag our kids away from the playground if persuasions do not seem to work. Most of the time the kid would start to cry and shout in the public which is very unpleasant and un-called for. That’s what happened to Pearl at Complex Karamunsing the other day where we were supposed to attend a birthday party at McDonald invited by Crystal’s classmate. She refused to leave that little playground at 3rd floor where we had spent more than half an hour and it's time to leave for the party.

After experiencing few of such situations, hubby and I would try to avoid going near to the areas where playgrounds are situated or even avoid going to complexes with playgrounds altogether.

We also wonder whether any maintenance to those playgrounds. Hygiene is another factor to consider too. We always make sure to clean the kids’ hands after visiting the playground, can not afford to pay visit to clinic every now and then.
