Clearing off old stock

I was once a home base florist while having a full time job.  Due to many contributing factors, I did not pursue further to develop the business and soon the interest have died out but the stocks that I have remained kept in the store at the family home.  During the recent renovation at the family home, Clet back my old stocks and old memories of one of my failed business attempts.  What should I do with them? 

Since my Kids Fashion business is in its last month of business, I am clearing off the stocks at the shop, it is the good opportunity to sell off the old florist stuff at the same time.  I offered a good discounted price to clear unwanted stuff in the house as well.  One man junk is an another man's treasure.

And...Decision has been made

Business has been bad for the past one year..it is obviously not getting any better after the implementation of GST.

After much discussions and considerations, decision has been reached and that we are closing down our 2 years 5 months business for good.  We did not make the decision alone but with the guide and grace from above.  Feeling a bit sad but with much relieve.

Since we do not have to get ready stuff for sale at the shop at night like we used to, I am able to do the things I have neglected all along.  The top priority is to spend time with my little daughter on her homework and revision each night.  We have set a target for her to meet under this special tuition.

I am also recollecting my concentration on my work after my shop is officially closed..and I hope to get back to blogging and visit my blogger friends more often.

Fashion Bazaar at Suria Sabah

I spent the whole of my last weekend at a fashion bazaar at Suria Sabah.  I booked a slot 3 weeks ago when the organizer came to promote at my shop.  It was the  venue of the bazaar that caught my attention. I thought by having a stall at a more crowded shopping mall would allow me to fetch more sales. Much to my disappointment that the sales was not encouraging, most of the stall owners were unable to even cover the 2 days rental that we had paid.

The set back is the bazaar was located at the very end of the mall on the 6th floor where usually it is empty with no activities. Promotions from the organiser is also lacking.   Friends that I know of having fashion shops around major shopping centres in the city are experiencing bad sales after the Chinese New Year season.  BR1M has no impact to boost the sales up.

My blogging, My business

I have been absent from blogging and missed visiting friends' blogs lately.  Time is the main factor.  There are so much stuff in hand to work on and to get done with, weekends are as busy as week days as I have to man my Kids Fashion Shop.  Without a shop assistant I can only open my shop for business during weekends when I am off from my full time job.

The new staff that I mentioned in my last post only worked for one day and sms me the next day telling me that her teacher asked her back to school for an interview regarding further study, which is a total lie.  Her mum told that she has started to work for a gaming outlet under the influence of her friend. 

Will be meeting 2 potential candidates this week, hope to find a reliable staff soon so that my shop business operation will be back to normal.  

My shop assistant

Before I started my business,  I never took note of people talking about how frustrating it is to employ a reliable shop assistant.

After operating a shop for exactly 5 months as of today,  I have started to realise employing a good employee is not as easy as I first thought. 

We have to ask my staff to leave because she has becoming dishonest and taking advantage of our kindness.  She has been coming late to work and taking leaves with only giving me one hour notice with all sort of reasons she can think of.  We have given her warnings repeatedly for such a behaviour.

We have to finally laid her off on last Saturday when she turned in to work 3 hours late. 

Without an assistant,  we have to temporary closed our shop while looking for a new one, luckily not for long. Thank God that we managed to get a replacement after spreading words around.  Hopefully the new shop assistant will be better than the previous one.  She will be commencing her duties tomorrow.   I am relieve at the same time worry whether she can handle the job alone as she is very young and inexperienced.   I am unable to be in my shop because I am still under employment with a boss.   Just hope that I can becoming my own boss very soon on a full time basis.
