Another year older..just a short post to acknowledge my birthday this year 2014 before we welcome the year 2015.
A birthday cake specially made for me by my sister in law, Catherine. She notified me via facebook message, at a glance, I thought she bought a cake for me from the bakery shop.
After dinner, we went to Bro's house to have the cake cutting ceremony. Kids are particularly excited with the candles lighted on the cake.
Got some ideas of what to cook for dad's birthday from the many cook books as references, my potluck dish is 3 colours capsicum, straw mushrooms with chicken slices, stir fried in Chinese cooking as dad prefers Chinese food over others.
I bought an all time favourite black forest fresh cream cake, the cake is moist and well received by all of us.
Today is a special day as we celebrate Clet's Birthday. At last minute, we decided to have a small get together dinner at Pizza Hut. After the dinner, we adjourned to Wong's home for cake cutting, SIL never misses making birthday cakes for her sisters and brothers. This year she made a chocolate cake, her plan was to make a mango cake but the mangoes were hijacked by her dogs under the mango tree. ^.^
It was Tony's 67th birthday, celebrated at his home last night. He is the eldest brother of Clet's siblings. Plenty of food and great gathering for all of us.

I baked a birthday cake 4 days ahead of my birthday simply because my birthday falls on a working day, I would have no time to decorate the cake, I just want to relax and get myself ready for a birthday dinner at Pizza Hut right after I get back from work today.
My girls wanted to help me out on the cake. They did a good job though messed up a little. They are picking up the skills while I am pursuing my quest in baking and decorating cakes.
We chose to dine at Pizza Hut because my girls love the food there, I like it too!!
My birthday is celebrated in a quite way, as it has always been, only the four of us. I am touched with lots of birthday wishes coming through to my sms and Facebook till the last half an hour of my birthday today, I really appreciate and thank all of you, my friends and cousins, for your thoughtfulness and taking the time in sending me your birthday wishes. Thanks once again and looking forward to many more birthday wishes from you in years ahead.

It was my younger brother, Alfred's 40th birthday yesterday. SIL, Catherine bought a chocolate ganache cake from Uncle biscuit for him. It is super moist & soft. (I refrain myself from taking a bite as I am still on my detox program but I did take a big piece of the cake to frozen it till I finish my detox and enjoy it together with Clet on Saturday when he comes back from outstation).

To follow up with my previous post, here is the belated birthday cake that I baked on Saturday for my youngest brother's birthday, I am so absent minded that I always forget that his birthday is actually on the 30th and not 31st. I will have to refer back to this post should I forget again. *0*.
Crystal was helping me to stick the smaller pieces of edible images to the side of the cake. Pearl helped out as well.
I would say less decoration work is needed with the use of edible images on the cake. I ordered this piece of sport car edible image from on line without knowing there are many on sale at the local ingredient shop, the price is much cheaper.
It's my youngest brother's birthday today, yes on 30th July. I has been too over occupied with office work, house chaos and other stuff that I have to think about and get over with, I did not realise that 30th is a Friday (I thought it's a Saturday), I have already promised SIL to bake a cake for her husband, Albert, so that she doesn't have to buy one. I feel very sorry to have upset her plan that I have to called Albert up to ask him whether he minds if I were to deliver his birthday cake one day late, jokingly he said he doesn't mind if I can deliver a cake to him everyday. haha...
Actually I have been looking forward to bake a cake for him. I ordered an edible image from KL a week ago just to make sure it can be delivered to me on time. The parcel was delivered a day later than the actual delivery date. I called up Poslaju and got them to sent to my office on Thursday.
Tonite, after coming back from Crystal's choir practice in the church at around 10pm, I started to bake a cake ready for decoration tomorrow morning, so that I can deliver the belated birthday cake to him as promised.
It's Clet's birthday today. He received numerous birthday wishes via Facebook.
We had two birthday dinners for his birthday, one Korean dinner given by his sister and brother in law on Saturday, and we had a Japanese set dinner tonite.
I baked a cake for him on Sunday cos I know I wouldn't have time to bake a cake on a working week day. It was two-layered cake, with a butter cake as base and chiffon cake on top, actually it is suppose to be a butter cake, however, the butter cake is too thin even after doubling the ingredients, so I decided to make a softer cake to increase its height. It is covered by fresh cream cos Clet did not like the taste of the fondant. The sugar paste roses were made the night before as decoration.
Received mum's call in the office informing me that for everyone conveniences we will be celebrating father's birthday on Sunday, 25th April 2010 instead of on his actual birthday on Wednesday, 28th April 2010 (the 15th day of March in the Chinese Lunar Calendar).
To gather everyone is something not easy to do especially each and everyone of us have got our own ideas on how to make the occasion different as compare to the previous years.
We were planning to bring father to try German cuisine but mum did not like the idea rather she prefer to have spicy barbecue fish at one of the shop they have been for two times before, both father and herself really like the dishes there, the dinner was set on Wednesday which I intended to join them.
However, the next day, big sister suggested that it's better to have a potluck dinner at her home since both of our parents have not been there for quite a while. After a few phone calls to other siblings, we all agreed to her idea and there we were birthday dinner at big sister's home.
I baked a cake, suppose to be a green tea cake but I have to control on the amount of green tea powder for the cake for the sack of the kids.
Crystal came to the kitchen while I was almost done with the cake, like usual she always wants to help out.

Clet's idea to bring mee as a it's symbolizes longevity. I am not good at cooking delicious mee so we tapau from the shop near sis's house.

This is a Chocolate and coconut with peach layer sponge cake. A combination of chocolaty and tropical flavour in one, decorated with gum paste flowers. The cake is moist and soft. Recipe here.

A Carrot Walnut Cheese cake for Brother in Law's birthday. Everyone is crazy over the cheese dressing. Pearl is one of them.
