Home baked bread by Pearl

Another post of home made bread. Eversince I have got the ingredients right for baking white bread using my years old bread maker machine, we do not need to buy bread from outside. My girls enjoy having the fresh soft bread sandwiches for their breakfast. Rather than just me having to bake the bread all the time, I taught Pearl to do it too. She was once putting double scoops of salt in the ingredients, the bread turned out fine but became a salty bread. With that, she learned to be more focus when handling the ingredients. This is the bread she baked. Fresh, nice and soft.

Angry Birds Dressing up

With all the Angry Birds waves in town, I couldn't help but to buy 2 pretty angry Birds' dresses for my 2 little princesses. In fact, they never asked for any Angry Birds' goodies, not a big fan of Angry Birds as they do to Barbie and Bratz.

Though they are not a big fans of Angry Birds, because of the waves are so strong that they have received many birthday presents and gifts featuring Angry Birds.

A comment on mummy's car

After fetching Pearl from school this afternoon, as usual she would ask for her bottle of "nenen" (milk) first thing she enters into the car. Just coming out from the junction, we had these conversations:

Pearl shouted, " mummy..mummy..look at this nice car!!"

Me : "Where..??", I asked her after coming out from the busy junction.

Pearl : "Aiya..passed already lo..you didn't see.."

Curiously I asked her : "Why? Mummy's car not nice meh??"

Pearl answered without much hesistant : "Ehmm..Nice...But have to make Shiny!!" and she continued to enjoy her nenen again.

Yup! My little girl sure has noticed the condition of my 10 year old car, faded paint, scratches here and there, with dented front. If not she wouldn't have made such a comment. She has indeed made me smile with her honest comment and I am very glad that I have a fully paid car (an asset) though it is no longer shiny, Pearl would be pleased if I were to repaint my car to make it shiny again :D

Pearl's achievement in singing contest

I still remember clearly that Pearl was screaming and crying fiercely when her teacher and me trying to bring her on stage to sing along with her fellow school mates during Chinese New Year's performance one and a half years ago. We ended bringing her away from the stage, the group singing without her.

It was a jaw dropping situation when we saw her singing solo in her school's singing competition yesterday, everyone of us, including her teacher still in disbelieve that she could have such a breakthrough, she got 7th placing (coincidentally she was the 7th contestant as well) among the 20 contestants , bringing a big trophy home with her for the 1st time. Pearl is very happy, and we can feel the sense of achievement in her though she didn't manage to get into the top 4 placing.

We would like to thank her teacher for giving Pearl the opportunity, for her encouragement, her time in training and guiding Pearl from the audition stage through the final stage of the competition, she even gone through the trouble of looking for a suitable outfit and accessories for Pearl from the school's collections which otherwise the parents have to provide. Pearl brought home 2 outfits to choose. As a busy mum, I only realised in that very morning that the only accessory lacking is a suitable necklace to match the outfit, from the rushing hours in the morning, I found my own handmade designed beads necklace and let her used it, it is one of the pieces of necklace that I put together some 3 years ago when I was very much into beading works. It is not a matching piece of necklace but it is better than none.

Pearl performed very well. Crystal has gone to school and was unable to attend. The daddy did not let her miss out this special event, he recorded it down and let Crystal watched it at home right after school.

Extraction of tooth on kid is a stressful thing

An update of my last post about bringing Pearl to the dentist to extract her molar tooth. I can tell you, it was a very stressful thing for us as parents and also Pearl. It was also heart breaking to see her struggling and refusing to let the dentist extract her tooth.

While trying to talk Pearl into letting the dentist pull her tooth, one of the nurse kept pursuing to ask me to sign on the card, I suppose is an indemnity kind of things, she said I have to sign it before they can perform the extraction. I was a bit annoyed at one point.

The decayed tooth was broken when the dentist trying to pull it out. It took much struggle to extract the roots after that because of Pearl's refusal.

After all that, the dentist office gave us a Post-Extraction Instructions to follow, that's what the do and don't to avoid post-extraction infection.

Dentist Appointment for Pearl

After having complains about tooth ache since the beginning of September, we brought Pearl to few dentist just to get opinions whether it is advisable to extract her molar tooth at the age of 5. The best is to save the tooth as much as possible, at the end we decided to seal and save it till she is older to extract it.

It was fine and no complaint of tooth ache until last week, she complained the same tooth ache again. The dentist prescribed her with a dose of antibiotic and painkiller, she advised to get her molar extracted. We have been letting her know that her tooth will be extracted just to get her ready for it.

We had made an appointment to bring her to extract her tooth today. I was damned worry for the whole week. Judging from the previous tooth filing experience, she refused and cried the longest and loudest, vomited at dentist room. That's only filing. Extracting tooth is a whole different thing.

I have been praying for the smooth extraction of her molar tooth today.

New Pair of Shoes

It's the end of school term tomorrow. Students of Malaysia will be having a long school holiday till the beginning of January 2009. We were told by the teacher that Pearl will have performance on stage during the closing of school term ceremony tommorrow morning that requires her to wear white shoes and socks. For that Cletus bought her a pair of white shoes yesterday since she never had white ones, but they were to big for her little legs. At last he got to change another pair from the same merchant which I find they are very nice and cute on her.

Not Well Again

My Baby Pearl is not feeling well again. She has not been well recently. She always down to flu, cough, fever, recovered a little and come back again. She is having a very bad cough these few days, last night was the worst; she vomitted after having her milk due to consistent bad coughs. She felt very uncomfortable at 5am this morning and we noticed that she is down to fever. We have been trying to feed her supplements to boost up her immune systems but she refuses them all the time, however, she is very willing to take the spirulina tablets and even asks for more, I always have to control her consumptions to only 2-3 tablets a day.

She complaint of tummy ache and vomitted again luckily we have Crystal's previous medicine for emergency use. At the moment, only Barney can keep her entertained and she sings along too when she feels a little ok.

New Shoes

Finally Pearl got a new pair of school shoes.  She has been wearing Crystal's old pair of blue shoes to school all this while, probably because they are more comfortable than the rest of them.  We noticed that she has out grown the blue shoes recently furthermore the other shoes from Crystal still of a larger size for her to fit in.  To give her tiny and growing foots the comfort, the daddy chose a pair of pink sport shoes for her.  She loves them.

Fever fever go away

I received a call from the school at around 4pm yesterday and was informed by the teacher that Pearl is having high fever. I quickly called Clet up and get him to attend to Pearl as I was unable to come out from the office that time. Clet decided to buy fever medication for Pearl on the way to the school so she won't have to wait till home to be given medication. We only let her brought along cough mixture to school without expecting her to get fever too. The daddy must have spread the viruses to her, my poor little Pearl. She stayed with her baby sitter today since the school does not encourage student with fever to be sent to school fearing that the sickness would spread to other kids, which is fair. She is now down to flu, cough and with mild fever hanging there. Hope she will get better soon.

Having Flu Again

My poor little Pearl is having flu again. Her body temperature was a bit warm when we sent her to baby school this morning, she knows about it and even told me that, "Mummy, I am sick, warm got hingus (mucus) again." She coughed a few times that made her vomited some mucus, luckily her tummy was still empty in the morning nothing solid came out. Having discussed with Clet on the situation, we decided to send her to school first, send me to work and let Clet settles his stuff and come back to attend to our little one since her fever was still a mild one, we informed the teacher to keep monitoring on that. I called the school to check on her around 9.30am, the teacher told me that her flu is terrible, and glad that her fever has gone away. To avoid her from getting throat infection, we decided to bring her to the doctor and Clet has to cancel his outstation trip this morning. Dear hubby, he is really a great daddy.

After seeing the doctor, it is confirmed that she is having sore throat that she has to take her antibiotic. Get well soon, my baby Pearl.

Chinese Medication

We brought Pearl to the Chinese doctor yesterday evening, we have no clues as to why her cough and flu lasted for so long, it is about a month now. Since western medications could not do any better on her, we have to resort to the Chinese medication which have been doing well on Crystal for many times. We waited for quite a while for our turn as the doctor is very "long winded", it was a struggle to keep the girls from moving around and touching the mechandise in the shops while waiting for our turn. Pearl was given a powder form medications, that's is a big challenge for us to feed her worst still they taste weird. Hope the medicine will cure her stubborn cough and flu..

My Little Sunshine

Crystal was selected to be one of the contestants in the school's singing competition last month. Her competition song was "You are My Sunshine", coincidently this was the song the daddy always singing to her while I was pregnant to her. She practised at home weeks before the competition, unfortunately she was not selected into the final, she claimed that due to cough & flu she was unable to perform well in the selecting process, we knew very well that she had done her best.

Know what?? Much to our surprise that at the age of less than 3 years, Pearl has actually picked up the song after listening to Crystal practising at home. Now, let's me present our little sunshine with her song "You are My Sunshine".

Tuesday Toot - Ready to school

Baby Pearl has been going to playschool for the third day today. She was a bit reluctant to be left alone in the beginning but we left her with teacher any how so that she could get use to the teacher as well as the environment and the activities in the school. She did indicate to me that she wanted me to stay with her by saying "I want to follow you". She basically followed the full session in school today without much fuss. I must give her a little Toot that she deserves for her strong adaptability to this new environment considering her young age of only 2 years 9 months old. After so much excitements in school she usually takes a long afternoon nap which is good for her. Toot again for my little baby Pearl.

Probably Pearl is too excited knowing that she will be going to school today that she woke her daddy up at 5am and me at around 6am this morning. She was in tears when we passed her school without sending her there after sending Crystal to school, simply because we were thinking of getting some breakfast first so that I can join her in school without having to starve myself for three hours there. So I ended up taking a small piece of swiss roll in packet which I brought in my bag. She had a very fun and enjoyable time at the school's playground this morning. Playground is the place that she has been nagging us to bring her to all this while; she also joined in some of the activities rather than clinging on me all the time at the very new place. She loves school so much that she refused to go, she was crying when I put her in the car and have to promise her that we will send her to school again..:D Was planned to take some photos of her in school but I forgot to take the camera from Clet's bag. I am always that forgetful!! :(

A visit to the clinic

Pearl has been suffering from a bad cough for almost two weeks now. She doesn't cough as often as you may think but whenever she coughs, there is like a big chunk of stubborn mucus stuck in her throat and causes her to vomit especially after drinking milk. That's the only way for her to get the mucus out which is good in a way. We have get a plastic bag ready just in case she vomits. We have been treating her cough with the previous medicine she got from the clinic but it did not help. Just a day before, she got an infection on her right eye as well, so here we are to pay a visit to her doctor. Both of our girls do not mind going there, you know why? See the set up, kids are very attracted to it; the kids can play toys, read books and watch children programme while waiting for their turn. Pearl was very cooperative when doctor check on her yesterday mainly because the doctor has been very kind to the kids. Hope she will get well with the prescriptions or else we will have to pay another visit again after a week.

Spotted Pearl opening her favourite sugus candy she took from the fridge herself. Obviously she is bigger girl now unlike previous months she would ask for help to open a candy and wanted it to be made into smaller pieces easier for her to chew.
