Digital Dictionary 电腦詞典

We are seriously considering buying a digital dictionary for our little girl whom is in Primary 5 now.  Her Chinese subject results have been always at the boarder line.  When our eldest going for UPSR last year, we thought of buying one for her but she said she can cope with the manual dictionary.

We are very grateful that our grand nephew whom has done his UPSR last year borrowed his Besta digital dictionary to his little aunty (my girl is younger but she is one generation older)  to try out & to explore the features available in this gadget to ensure that it is helpful before buying one.

The price is becoming more expensive nowadays.  There will be a promotion in the school on this product next month. Decision on buying one has yet to be made.

Are your kid(s) using this type of gadget ?  Does it help to improve their school academic results ?

Logos Hope berthed in Kota Kinabalu Port

My colleague passed to me a copy of this..at first glance I thought it's just another product sale leaflet. At second look, it's actually something new in town, the Logos Hope will be in Kota Kinabalu for the first time from 18 November to 11 December 2011, just in time for the School holiday break.

There are over 5000 titles of books to choose from on their fully air-conditioned deck that opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am - 10pm, and on Sunday from 1pm to 10pm, Monday - closed. The entrance fee is RM1.00, free entrance for children under 12.

It would be a good opportunity for school students, parents and book lovers to visit Logo Hope this school holiday..a great outing for the whole family to experience.

Blogger Course

Though I have been blogging for about 3 years now, I still find a lot to learn from blogging, especially on putting meta tags to my blog to drive more traffic, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and most importantly the methods on how to monetize my blogs.

For these reasons, I have made a point to attend a course on Blogging Course for Absolute Beginners conducted by Gomes Promotion at Likas Square, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

I am here to post this post as a practice for beginner, :D

This course is conducted in two parts, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.

update : click here to my 2nd post.

DRAWING SKILLS

Crystal was exceptionally hungry after school today and would like to have her favourite doughnut. We were thinking of dropping by Consfood to grab some doughnuts and sandwiches for her and Pearl to munch in the car so we could zoom home and let Clet send the car in for a check (our car heated up earlier on in the City, again). Since we have got a parking and thought it would be wise to let the car cool down a bit before proceed home considering the traffic congestion on the way home, so we decided to have our light lunch there instead. Like usual the girls were having so much noise in the bakery it attracted the attention of everyone there particularly a gentleman who later greeted us and asked whether Crystal likes to draw, he started conversation with Clet and gave a brief introduction of himself whom is a retiree aged 61, now teaching drawing at schools to pass time. From there on he started to show his sketches on how to draw birds, ducks, mouse, cat, bear, dogs, dinasours, hands, fingers, faces, etc..It catches the attention of the girls, especially Crystal who likes drawing very much. I posted some sketches here which he gave to the girls to bring home to practice. He offers to show more children drawing skills next week at the same place if we want to learn more skills too. BTW I forgot his name probably Clet might remember. Crystal started to follow the sketches at home later in the day. However, now then I realised she didn't get to eat much in Consfood. She got a free drawing session at noon but an upset stomach at night. Her stomach is so senstive that she vomitted and having mild fever after that. Hope she will get better tomorrow. My poor little princess...

PRIMARY 1 REGISTRATION

It's the time of the year when parents are busy choosing a primary school for their kids. Registration is now opened for children born in the year 2003 (children of the sheep year) to Primary 1 two years later, i.e. 2010. I am one of those parents this year. I am planning to register Crystal to Shan Tao primary school where I studied before. It is near to where we live too. It was advertised in the newspaper that the school only accept the max of 300 students due to limitation of classrooms, that's really makes me worry whether I will be able to secure a place for my little girl. James & Jenny will be registering Joshua to the same school too.. Guess we have to be there as early as 6am to queue up for the form.
There have been many cases that children are sent to primary schools that are far away from their residing address, that cause a lot of troubles and stresses to the parents. We wouldn't want to be at that kind of situation later.
For those whose children were borned in 2003, please get ready and bring along the neccessary documents to the school for registration. The documents are: birth certificate of your child (both original and duplicate), IC of both the parents (Original & duplicate). Some school even ask for a copy of the electricity or water bill to show the actual resident's address.
