Digital Dictionary 电腦詞典

We are seriously considering buying a digital dictionary for our little girl whom is in Primary 5 now.  Her Chinese subject results have been always at the boarder line.  When our eldest going for UPSR last year, we thought of buying one for her but she said she can cope with the manual dictionary.

We are very grateful that our grand nephew whom has done his UPSR last year borrowed his Besta digital dictionary to his little aunty (my girl is younger but she is one generation older)  to try out & to explore the features available in this gadget to ensure that it is helpful before buying one.

The price is becoming more expensive nowadays.  There will be a promotion in the school on this product next month. Decision on buying one has yet to be made.

Are your kid(s) using this type of gadget ?  Does it help to improve their school academic results ?

  1. I think many parents are getting the kids tabs or tablets where they can install all kinds of educational apps inside, probably better than just an electronic dictionary.. but control must be there so the kids don't just play games, haha!!

  2. Yeah, the biggest one has one too. It seems like tuition centers are encouraging kids to get one, although they can't bring it to school. I really wonder if the tuition centers gets kickbacks or commission for recommending it. I wouldn't be surprised...

Oh well, it seems to be useful anyway, so it's no harm. Just can't bring it to school.

Oh ya, you should try and make it to Japan sometime. It's my first time there too, been to a lot of different places but Japan is really wonderful - people there are nice and polite and the food is great.

  3. My kid's dad gotten one for them too. I didn't find it easy to use for me la. I prefer PLECO, the apps cos I find this gadget quite difficulty for me to use. Maybe just not for me.

  7. Depending on what her problem is. If it is understanding, then it will surely help. But if one wants to be good in Chinese essays, comprehension, then you need to read a lot. And if she continues to take Chinese up to secondary level, it will be more economical in the long run. It is helpful for us banana parents who wants to help our kids but since she is in Std 5, she is independent enough to use it on her own to help herself.
Our Besta accompanied my kids from Std3 up to UPSR.
